;The Solar Hijri calendar, also called the Solar Hejri calendar or Shamsi Hijri calendar, and abbreviated as SH, is the official calendar of Iran and Afghanistan.
;The present Iranian calendar was legally adopted on 31 March 1925, under the early Pahlavi dynasty. The law said that the first day of the year should be the first day of spring in "the true solar year", "as it has been" ever so.
;It begins on the vernal equinox (Nowruz) as determined by astronomical calculation for the Iran Standard Time meridian (52.5°E or GMT+3.5h).

;AP  = Anno Persico/Anno Persarum =Persian Year (years are counted since Mohammed's emigration to Medina in AD 622)
;AHS = used by the Iranian calendar to denote the number of solar years since the Prophet Muhammad's migration from Mecca to Medina in September 622
;SH  = Solar Hejri
